Best Things To Do With Kids In Melbourne – Legoland Discovery Centre @ Chadstone Shopping Centre, Melbourne

I have a faithful and undying love for Chadstone Shopping Centre. It's got everything - the best shops and the best eats, all wrapped up in a beautiful shiny package. And now Melbourne's best shopping centre has added yet another reason to visit - the Legoland Discovery Centre.

Chadstone is immense, so make sure you park in the Hoyts Cinema carpark to avoid adding a lengthy (yet wonderful) traipse through the shopping centre. If you're visiting without a car, you can take the free Chadstone Tourist Shuttle Bus from Melbourne's CBD. Legoland is located opposite Hoyts Cinema.

First stop is the Lego Factory Tour, where you'll learn all about how Lego is made.

You can also make your own Lego Minifigure on the big screen.

Now advance to Miniland, a miniature model of Melbourne, complete with working trams.

And this endlessly hilarious jackhammer man...

Next stop, rides! First of all, Kingdom Quest, where you ride around in a chariot shooting laser guns at targets. Then the spinning and flying Merlin's Apprentice Ride. NB: You'll need closed toe shoes to ride.

The soft play area was lots of fun, with slides, tunnels and huge Lego bricks.

There are 3 different movies showing at the Lego 4D Cinema, so make sure you catch them all. Prepare to get wet, too!

At the Build & Play Zone, you can race your Lego vehicles, or create an earthquake-proof tower.

You're not allowed to bring your own food into Legoland, but there is an on-site cafe serving sandwiches and suchlike. BORING! Just save your appetite for the foodie wonderland that is Chadstone.
