Best Things To Do With Kids In Tokyo – Legoland Discovery Centre

Now that I've got that song stuck in your head for the next 6 months, let's talk about Legoland Discovery Center in Tokyo! It's situated in the Decks Mall in the Odaiba shopping district, around 40 minutes from Tokyo by subway.

Legoland Tokyo is quite compact (we spent around 3 hours there), and attractions are best suited to little kids (aged 8 and under). To keep older kids and teenagers entertained, check out the Sega Joyopolis amusement park/arcade (also in Decks Mall).

Little Lego fans will love the:

  • 2 rides
  • 4D movie (in Japanese)
  • Soft play areas and ball pit
  • Creative workshops
  • Lego models
  • 10 build-and-play areas

Take the escalator up to Legoland...

The excitement will be palpable.

First we admired the brilliant models of Tokyo in Miniland...

Then we built a walrus in the Creative Workshop. Instructions are in Japanese, but hey, Lego is a universal language!

Then we played and played and played. First stop, Lego Ninjago City Adventure (which is limited to kids under 140cm tall).
Don't forget to bring socks for the soft play areas.

Next stop, Duplo Village...

Then Lego Racers: Build & Test, where you can build your own Lego vehicle and race it.

Then Lego City Train World

The on-site cafe had a selection of hot and cold foods - pretty standard Japanese convenience store fare. Outside food and drinks are not permitted. Save your appetite for later - there are lots of great food outlets in the Decks Mall.
