Best Things To Do With Kids In Florence – Piazza Tasso Playground In Oltrarno

The Oltrarno, meaning 'beyond the Arno', is a charming district on the south bank of the Arno River. Like Rome's boho Trastevere neighbourhood, it is still home to working-class locals and artisan workshops. It has experienced a recent tourism revival - up until a few years ago, many piazzas in the Oltrarno were being used as car parks. With its narrow streets and pretty piazzas, it's a great place to explore, and feels a lot more peaceful than the packed centro storico.

Piazza Torquato Tasso has a large playground, with swings, climbing gyms for big and little kids and a soccer pitch. For all the picnic basics, there's a small Carrefour Express supermarket on the north side of the square. La Sorbettiera, on the east side of the square, has some of the best gelato in town, and offers sugar, egg and gluten free options.
